Happy Birthday Cornel West!
The news that philosopher, professor, author, activist, rapper, and thought leader Cornel West (born June 2, 1953) wasvrunning for president reminded me of our 2009 interview. In our freewheeling dialogue he talks about growing up in Sacramento, going to Harvard, his connection with the Black Panthers, and the comparisons between music and philosophy. Cornel worked to get Barack Obama elected but you’ll hear in this interview the beginnings of his disillusionment.
